Lead Times
Our standard lead time is currently approximately 6 weeks, however, lead times can vary depending on the volume and type of work we have in production at any given time. Because all of our custom framing is completed in-house, we carefully schedule each project alongside our existing orders and deadlines. We always do our best to accommodate our customers’ required dates whenever possible, provided that the necessary materials are available and we can fit the project into our production schedule.
Rush Orders
We understand that sometimes a project needs to be completed sooner. Rush orders are available for an additional surcharge, subject to our current workload and material availability. Simple projects can often be completed within 1–3 days when all required materials are in stock. We usually also cut small orders of glass, mats or board products on the spot while you wait. Simple custom floater frames for canvases can also be made same day if required in select mouldings. If materials need to be ordered, turnaround can typically be up to approximately 2 weeks, depending on supplier availability and shipping times. More complex or higher volume projects may require additional time.
Hand-Finished & Solid Hardwood Frames
The type of frame selected can also affect the turnaround time. Pre-finished mouldings supplied by our suppliers can generally be completed more quickly, as the moulding is already finished and ready for cutting and joining. Our solid hardwood frames are milled and finished in-house, with the wood selected and prepared specifically for each project. A solid hardwood frame requires a minimum of approximately 3 days of production, and can take longer when additional corner details, custom profiles, multiple finishing steps, or more complicated designs are involved.
Flexible Timing & No-Rush Pricing
For customers who are flexible with their completion date, we offer discounted pricing on projects where there is no rush. If you are willing to allow us up to 3 months to complete your project, we may be able to schedule it around our existing production and take advantage of quieter periods in the shop. This allows us to offer savings while still maintaining the same level of care and craftsmanship that goes into every frame.
How much will framing my project cost?
The cost of your project depends largely on the size and materials chosen. We can give you pricing during a visit to our studio or by phone or email if the exact measurements and framing choices are provided to us.
Do you deliver?
Yes we do, anywhere in Canada! All orders placed that cannot be collected at our workshop in Ottawa are shipped via courier. Shipping rates vary and are calculated on an individual basis. We also offer local delivery to customers in the Ottawa area.
How quickly can you frame my project?
Our normal turn-around time is 3-5 weeks, but depending on materials chosen there may be a delay due to current supply chain issues.
Do you contact me when the order is ready?
When your order has been completed we will contact you via email or phone to arrange collection from the studio. We will also call you if your order involves some special materials and/or a longer time for completion than normal.
What if I don’t like it once I get it home?
Let us know! You will be looking at your framed art everyday, and we want you to be happy with what you see. We try our best to design the perfect combination, but every now and then things may need to be tweaked. We’ll be happy to work with you to make some adjustments.
What’s the turnaround time for JUST a mat or glass?
Orders of frame bits and parts can often be done within a couple of days depending on your requirements.
I have a painting that’s rolled up. Do you stretch canvases?
Absolutely.
I am moving. Do you sell products to protect my art?
We have cardboard protectors to keep your frame corners safe. We recommend wrapping pieces in moving blankets or bubble wrap – which are available from packing supply stores. If you are shipping your art via a courier, we make custom shipping crates and boxes.
What’s the craziest thing anyone has asked you to frame?
You name it, we’ve framed it. In our opinion, there’s no request too odd. Let your freak flag fly—or bring it to us to be framed! We have framed a lot, so here are a few of our favorite framing projects showcasing just a sample of our enormous selection.
How do you take care of my art?
Each piece we take in is wrapped individually and stored flat on special racks until your order is ready to go in the frame.
I left my art there for framing over three months ago—do you still have it?
Yes. Your order is safely stored until you come to pick it up, but we prefer you to begin enjoying your artwork in your home as soon as possible. We send a few gentle reminders and will be genuinely worried about your wellbeing after about six months. Call us at 6133249839 or contact us to make arrangements for delivery or collection.
How do I hang my picture?
Your picture comes with a set of standard picture frame hooks for the appropriate weight. We recommend two hooks per picture. We also offer a frame installation service if you would like us to take care of hanging for you! Please contact us for more info.
